Arles gets offered its own Guggenheim

Currently, in Arles, France, LUMA’s Foundation is giving birth to the Parc des Ateliers.
It is meant to be a attempt to think and create an artistic center of a whole new kind ; Maja Hoffmann, heiress of pharmaceutival industry and president of the foundation, assert this project is a try to « look for a new form of contemporary intelligence ». The project will be headed by Frank Gehry, American architect worldwide known for having signed the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, 11 years ago. The tour he has designed will be 56 meters tall, just as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, letting Arles dispose of a monument as important as only capitals are used to. The Foundation’s production programme for both exhibitions and artwork has started since 2010, among which is To the Moon via the beach. Yet, I consider The Library is on fire as being the most up-and-coming. The library, establishing a direct link between text and image, follows the cognitive, affective and physical adventures of a creature looking for the form of its intelligence. Crazy idea, isn’t it ? Check it out !
