93 percent of Lake Michigan covered in ice
25 foot high ice cliffs in New Buffalo, Michigan. Several people die each year walking on these, as they occasionally cave in. Formed by wind piling layers of floating ice on top of each other, they extend about 130 yards from shore and can grow as high as 30 feet. -Tom Walinski, 16, CNN iReporter.
