Why study abroad? Ask Michelle Obama

    International Perception of Americans

Hi, I'm Kristine Kelly and I'm a blogger for and currently in Saint Barthélemy. I grew up in Northern Virginia and the first trip I took overseas was to Mexico for a photo shoot with my mom when I was in high school. I wish I had explored the opportunity to study abroad in high school or college, to become more cultured at a younger age. I'm fortunate to be able to travel internationally frequently as an adult, and recommend students to take advantage of this opportunity to grow as an individual. You will gain such a deep respect for other cultures in the process and see that being different is okay. There is so much to learn and experience in traveling overseas, you will develop relationships that will last a lifetime.
I would like to know what the single most important thing First Lady Michelle Obama would want other countries to know about Americans.
