This iReport is part of an assignment:
Why study abroad? Ask Michelle Obama

Question: Why consider non-traditional locations for study abroad?

Western Europe and Australia continue to be the top destinations for U.S. undergraduate students who study abroad. The Gilman International Scholarship provides study abroad awards for Pell Grant students, and aims to diversify not only the types of students going abroad, but also the locations they go to. Mrs. Obama, what advice would you give to encourage college students to consider studying abroad in non-traditional locations?
