Colorado Drone Adventures 2013 (no music)

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     debatelord has been flying video-piloted RC planes since 2011, after Raphael Pirker, now a personal friend, was in the news for flying his first-person view plane over New York City.

This footage is a compilation of various locations in Colorado, filmed between the months of May and December 2013. Inspired by Pirker's videos flying in the Austrian Alps, he decided that he wanted to do the same thing in Colorado.

Being a hobbyist, he taught himself about aerial photography and the type of equipment he should use. "I learned how to do it mainly from reading online forums, and I regularly fly with a group of other FPV hobbyists in the Denver area," he said.

This is a clean copy of the video I uploaded earlier with no music and titles. See the original here:

This is a video reel I put together showing clips from some of my best flights during the second half of 2013. It features flights at various locations around Colorado including Dillon Lake, Devils Head, Mount Herman, Deer Creek Canyon, and the hogback west of Denver.

The video was shot with my 5-foot long, 6 lb, video-piloted remote control flying wing. It is controlled from the ground via a live video feed, overlayed with GPS navigational data from an on-screen display. It has an approximately 10 mile range, and can fly up to several thousand feet above the ground. My favorite thing to do with it is take it up in the mountains and fly along high alpine ridges and skim down mountain sides.
