The Chinese New Year of the Horse is welcomed by the Chinese Fine Arts Society, the Emperor, Empress, and the God of Fortune with me for the celebration at Navy Pier's Crystal Gardens. Members of The Chinese Fine Arts Society featured a Classical Chinese Fashion Show showcasing authentic and original costumes from TECO in Westmont, Illinois. Julie Ma, President of The Chinese Fine Arts Society, presented the Fashion Show for the Chinese Celebration at the Neighborhoods of the World during the Lantern Festival. The Chicago Chinese Cultural Center performed the Golden and Silver Lion Dance to welcome the New Year of the Wooden Horse. The Lantern Festival is a New Year tradition when lanterns are used to dispel evil spirits. Lanterns are lit and displayed for the Lantern Festival. The Bartlett Chinese Hakka Choir performed traditional songs for this Chinese celebration.
