This iReport is part of an assignment:
GMO Labling At The University of South Carolina
My name is Byron Thomas, and I am a student body senator at the University of South Carolina. I'm truly honored and humbled to be able represent the students at this awesome university. I was very upset with the way Congress handled the GMO Bill last year, by not passing it. I truly believe that the American people deserve the right to know what is GMO and what is Not GMO. So since it did not pass in Washington, I am hoping I can pass a bill that would require foods on our campus to be labeled whether they are GMO or Not GMO. Students deserve the right to know what they're eating. A lot of foods are or have GMO in them. Maybe if a student knows that a certain food is GMO, then they probably would choose something else. This won't stop students from eating GMO foods, but students should be aware that they're eating something that is genetically modified. I would love support for what I'm doing and hopeful my bill will become law at the University of South Carolina. Hopefully one day it'll become law in South Carolina and the United States of America. Overwhelm People with Love and May God Bless the United States of America.
