DISNEY HAS DONE IT AGAIN! MUPPETS MOST WANTED IS HIGHLY ENTERTAINING

MUPPETS MOST WANTED is a children’s comedy adventure film starring Ty Burrell, Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais.  The film was released on Friday, March 21, 2014, directed by James Bobin and written by James Bobin and Nicholas Stoller.

Disney has done it again!  When The Muppets go on a world tour with an evil Kermit the Frog imposter, they unknowingly cover up several jewelry robberies when they allow fame and fortune to cloud their better judgment.  In order to clear their name, stop the jewelry robberies, and catch the bad guys, they first must realize the Frog leading their world tour is not their beloved Kermit.  The adventure continues when they find their beloved Kermit the Frog choreographing a musical in prison and safely bring him back to his Muppet family.

The movie is highly entertaining with just enough intrigue for young minds to follow the plot and root for their hero, Kermit the Frog, and the other Muppet characters. The theme teaches children to value their families when Kermit the Frog reaches his goal of returning to his Muppet family.  The adult theme, however, not only embraces the love of family but also teaches that integrity, loyalty and respect are more important than the desire for fame and fortune.  In other words, don’t compromise yourself for the love of money.  The musical skits and famous Broadway reenactments provide the audience with toe-tapping fun, which last long after you leave the theater. The only minor critique, in my opinion, is the reference to alcohol when the detective pours a glass of champagne for Miss Piggy and the reference to violence when the evil Kermit the Frog imposter threatens the theater with a bomb and uses a gun.  Obviously those references are the reason for the PG rating, but viewers need to see the bad in order to appreciate the good.  The references may frighten very young children so parents should use their parental guidance when bringing young children.

Disney ends MUPPETS MOST WANTED with a glorious fireworks display of the Muppet characters.  Well-done Disney!  MUPPETS MOST WANTED is highly entertaining and I would recommend it for school-age children and up.
