    Protesters occupy Taiwan legislature

    Police Violence Out of Control?

To what extent should the police use violence against peaceful, unarmed protestors in a democratic country? Ma's administration in Taiwan has a startling answer.

To eliminate the expanding protest surrounding and inside the Executive Yuan, the police determine to adopt a more violent measure. Students were beaten up by batons and shields. A video clips captured an officer kicking a news reporter lying on the ground.

A medical crew tried to enter the scene to provide medical assistance but was stopped by the police. The officers threatened to use the same degree of violence and handcuff the doctors if they remain at the scene.

The doctors in white coats leaved reluctantly while the police officers were exclaiming for their victory. Several protestors were injured, but fortunately, the brutal force caused no casualty so far.
