CNN PRODUCER NOTE     MMatsumoto was looking to have his own "Into the Wild" adventure when he drove from Los Angeles to the Arctic Circle in Alaska. Even though he has traveled to some of the remotest places in the world, filling up three passports in the process, he still refers to Alaska as the wildest place on earth. "The natural beauty and wilderness make even 'bad' photos beautiful," he said.

On his first day in Hyder, Alaska, he ventured to a river where bears are known to fish for salmon. He waited by the river until he finally saw a mother bear and her cub. "You hear stories of Grizzly bears being the size of a car, but you don't really believe it until you are within throwing distance of one," he said.
