My 7th Rez Day In Second Life

Today is my birthday in Second Life, or rather my Rez Day; The anniversary of the day that I joined the virtual world 7 years ago, back in 2007. Seven is said to be a magical number, and for me I guess it really is, because experiencing Second Life meant opening up a new world view for me, meeting people from all around the globe and a wonderful experience it's been!

As the real world goes through changes, the harshness of survival becoming more evident as greed and power struggles ensue, we are also becoming more spiritual beings so the changes aren't all bad. Second Life has been a place for creative people, for people to lose themselves in their imaginations, to build, to design, to practice their social skills as well as the arts. People who haven't tried it often consider it childish or just a virtual place for people trying to leave reality behind. In fact it's a marvelous tool for coping with real life; You have to create your own second life in SL, no one tells you what to do, so you practice the skills you need in real life, you can become a success, say with a business or simply by enjoying an artistic hobby by using the virtual tools; SL is a place to practice and ultimately link it to real life if you want to. SL is an environment where shy people can find romance and friendship, people with disabilities are free of the restrictions of a physical body, and most importantly, people have fun just by meeting others and realising that we are all the same, no matter where we live on this wonderful planet.

I've learned many things through being in SL, I've grown more confident in what I do in every aspect of my life. I know there is so much more to learn about our universe at this very important time of changes for us all. I've even met a couple of people lately who told me that they had known about the creation of Second Life long before it actually happened. Weird you might think, but I have been finding out recently that there is nothing new under the sun, the knowledge of what we really are and why we are on this planet is slowly unfolding before us, maybe SL is a tool to help us realise just what we can achieve and what abilities have been kept from us.

I'd like to say a big thank you to the people I share my virtual experiences with, my close friends in SL from around the world. I'd never have met you if I hadn't have created my avatar 7 years ago and you all mean so much to me. I also want to thank CNN for this platform they granted us, albeit that politics have got in the way with much of the media, but I had the privilege of meeting some lovely journalists and producers as they came into the SL environment to coach us on reporting and they gave us assignments to encourage us.

I'm not sure how the next 7 years will be either in real life or Second Life, but I know one thing, we all need to look after each other, look after the animals and the world we live in because we are all part of one energy. We are meant to be here, humans are a part of it all, not a curse on the planet as some people might like you to believe; So enjoy your life and create a peaceful sharing world for everyone and everything! Thank you for reading my thoughts on my 7 special years in Second Life!
