    Travel photo of the day

    Lassen Beckons

In Lassen Volcanic National Park, CA, the trail to the top of Lassen Peak is open only some weekends days. We happened to visit one of those weekends and set off on the trail with the intent to only get a closer look at this majestic peak with elevation of more than 10,000 ft. Every time we decide to turn around some one in our group would want to "just go around the next bend in the trail". A few hours later we find ourselves at the top, duly rewarded with magnificent views of the rugged terrain, still patched with snow late in the summer. Definitely one of the most rewarding hikes we have been on.
