Marten, I need you to run a flight simulation on the half ping. The plane was at 12000 feet alt. and out of fuel the R.A.T. emergency power unit deployed and the auto pilot went in to an emergency decent mode. It put the plane in to a decent steep enough to keep it from stalling and keep the R.A.T. turning. So with the angle of decent and the starting ALT. with that information. The maker of the plane or R.A.T. system could do the math and come up with a distance of the plane glide path in a controlled decent to an end point. Then by adding it on to each possible flight paths we may find spots were the plane may be found. Automation is a good thing so how capable are all the emergency system on the 777 in this event. Please run this ASAP and send to system makers.

    Thank You,
