    Communicating through autism

    Delayed But Not "Disabled"

My name is Julia Triassi I’m 22, although I had developmental delays, I am very verbal. I was not diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome until I was 18, about a month before I graduated high school with a 3.89 GPA. People always told you cant but I proved them wrong. I not only communicate through my words but I communicate through art, in my case photography. When I am behind the lens I do not feel like I am “different or weird”. Although I am able to communicate through words it is still difficult sometimes to say what I mean and get my point across. People told my mom I wouldn’t go to college but I not only went I graduated with an associates degree in photography and plan on going back. I want to help others with autism, by doing different types of therapy such as art or play therapy. Something that helps me is knowing that God created me for a reason and that reason is to help others especially people with Autism.
