WHICH WORDS WEIGH MORE, SPOKEN OR WRITTEN?
"My word is my bond", and the customary handshake once sealed a deal 25 plus years ago.
Asking some to uphold their word today is like putting a suit on a greased pig in the mud. There would have been a video if could have ever caught the pig; it takes a swarm of children.
Unfortunately, this is especially depicted on television by many writers in the roles written for males such as Alan in "Two and a Half Men".
For some it has become more easier to run away than to keep their word. While others shy away from certain relationships in order to avoid being disappointed. Dating and marriage has become more a game of chance, going in hoping that you don't shoot craps.
The only security one has today is in whether or not their own words carry any weight, and until one opens their mouth - it's up in the air.
