    British Library, London

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     mapqueen says that the King's Library at the British Museum and the British Library in London are two of her favorite places to see when she visits. "Libraries are heaven! There were books that were hundreds of years old, so just imagine the journeys they've been on! I love all the colors on the shelves, and I love the smell of books," she said.
    - Verybecoming, CNN iReport producer

While most people could spend hours in the British Museum, my favorite thing to go see in London is the British Library (don't confuse the two!). I've been there twice, and both times have been completely blown away by the texts, maps, artifacts, and other pieces of the past that pull you right into the midst of history. You're not allowed to take pictures in the exhibition rooms, but among my favorite things I've seen there were: 4 Gutenberg Bibles, an entire collection of the earliest Mercator maps from the 16th and 17th centuries, a hand-written Jane Austen manuscript of Persuasion, the Codex Sinaiticus, and more.
