Peaceful protest in dowtown Albuquerque against APD

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Photographer Zak Thoesen went to observe a demonstration in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico, on April 4. He describes the protesting as a peaceful demonstration and says people came out to protest the Albuquerque Police Department (APD). 'They were demanding that APD stop the shooting. They had a whole list of demands, which included that the police chief be fired and the mayor be fired. They also demanded that the cops who shot James Boyd be charged with murder,' he said. Boyd, a homeless man, was shot and killed by Albuquerque officers on March 16. Police said Boyd was armed with two knives and was illegally camping, CNN affiliate KOAT reported. The U.S. Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into the shooting.
