Team Rubicon Thanks QuinStar Employees for Generosity Following Typhoon

Team Rubicon, a veteran-led disaster relief organization, is pleased to thank QuinStar Technology for its continued support following major natural disasters.

The Torrance-based engineering company and its employees donated $17,892 toward Team Rubicon’s response to the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan.

“Our work relies on the generosity of supporters like QuinStar Technology,” said Jake Wood, cofounder and CEO of Team Rubicon. “It is humbling to know that these funds came from the employees themselves and then were matched thanks to the company’s leadership.”

The funds helped Team Rubicon deploy volunteers within the immediate aftermath of the deadly storm. Volunteers performed search and rescue, medical triage, surgical support, and other relief. More than 2,000 patients were treated or vaccinated during the response, before long-term medical care was transitioned to a larger organization.

It was not QuinStar’s first donation to Team Rubicon. The globally-recognized maker of high-tech electronic products used in radar systems, satellite communications, and space exploration, contributed nearly $11,500 following Hurricane Sandy.

“Team Rubicon represents two primary values of QuinStar Technology: Fulfilling our patriotic duties by helping our veterans’ reincorporate into civilian life, as well as being responsible world citizens by aiding those affected by natural disasters around the world,” said Leo Fong, CEO of QuinStar Technology.

Team Rubicon was founded in the wake of the 2010 Haiti Earthquake with a dual mission: to apply the skills of military veterans to disaster response, and to help ease the reintegration of veterans through continued service at home.

Since then, it has conducted 53 operations, including relief operations after tornadoes in Oklahoma, Texas, and Illinois; floods in Colorado and New Mexico; and recent ice storms in Pennsylvania and Georgia.
