Interview with Hollywood legend Mickey Rooney 5 weeks ago

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Joyce Chow interviewed silver screen legend Mickey Rooney just five weeks ago at a pre-Oscar event, saying he was “mentally sharp” at the ripe age of 93. Rooney passed away Sunday. “There is no more Mickey Rooney, there will never be another,” Chow said. “I was looking forward to seeing him return to the big screen as he was excited talking about his upcoming projects. I had not seen him at any public event nor industry event for years.” Watch more footage from the interview.

Five weeks ago we were lucky enough to be on hand with Mickey Rooney when he gave us and Telemundo an interview. This Is additional material that we had shot during that time.

Mickey Rooney has now left us. He was a force of nature while he was alive, for after all he was Mickey Rooney.

Mickey Rooney will be missed. Even showing signs of age, he still possessed the wit that Mickey Rooney had always been known for in life.

We don’t know how many interviews he did after this as it was shot during a pre-Oscar event about 5 weeks ago at Roger Neal Style Hollywood Beauty and Couture Suite celebrating the 86th Academy Awards. We had not seen him at any event for years.

We consider ourselves exceptionally lucky that we have this to share.
