    Pickens county Al overnight storms


    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Ed Virden's power went out last night in Carrollton, Alabama, during severe weather. Within a few minutes, he received a weather alert and took shelter with his family in the bathroom. That’s when the hail started. “The wind picked up and it sounded like the wind was going to lift the roof off,” he said.

    This morning, Virden went outside of assess the damage. “Of the five pine trees in my yard, only one was left standing. The entire neighborhood is like that,” he said.

    Virden also discovered a tree had fallen on his pickup truck. “There was a somber moment because it was paid for,” he said of the 2007 Chevy.
