    “Staying In The Flow”

    Lovater Harris Jones, RScP

“Each one of us is an inlet to the Divine, but because we are individuals we can inhibit or even stop It; or by opening up all the channels of faith and conviction and hope, we can increase Its flow.”
Ernest Holmes“Living The Science of Mind”
As I read this chapter in “Living the Science of Mind”, I was struck by the sentence that said, “…the flow (in this case the author was speaking of water) to any particular spot is limited to the size of the pipe through which it flows.” We can decide for ourselves what it is that we choose to have flowing into our experience. It could be perfect health, friendships, right and perfect employment, ideal companionship, supply, wisdom, etc. No matter what it is that we choose, we must have a vision (pipe) large enough for Spirit to flow through and out from us unimpeded. We must open the floodgates, allowing it full access! God, in answering prayers, do not withhold from Its creations!

When it appears that our prayers have not been answered, there has to be a blockage somewhere. This is the perfect time to go within and search for the source of this blockage. Holmes says, “the flow did not stop itself; it stopped because something got in the way.” In prayer, we are dealing with an immutable and impersonal Law, therefore it is necessary that we KNOW that our word, whether spoken consciously or unconsciously, is Authority to the Law, and the Law is compliant! We are then compelled to seek the source (thoughts) which caused the blockage and clean it up/unstop it; allowing for the desired “thing” to flow easily and effortlessly to us!

I open up all the channels of faith, hope and conviction, as I increase the flow of my Good. I surrender all that concerns me to the Spirit of God within and I do so deliberately, definitely and without resistance. All that I need to do, is NOT interfere. I allow it to be! And so it is!
