“WHAT DO WOMEN LIKE, A FEMALE OR MALE OB/GYN?”

Miami, April 9th, 2014- A new trend has developed regarding female patient preferences by the time they have to select the gender of their ObGyn. This trend indicates that women between the ages of 18-28, pre childbirth, are gravitating more towards a female ObGyn. Studies have also shown this new age progression is due to a mutual understanding of their current needs and a large increase in comfort. “Obstetrics and gynecology deal with the most personal and private parts of the female body, it is important to find a specialist that you feel comfortable with. Most of my patients claim that they feel more open to talk about their personal health concerns.” – Affirms Dr. Ileana Perez from ELITE OB/Gyn of Miami. “Most of my patients belong to a younger generation and they know that they have the opportunity to choose the gender of their specialists” – Continues D. Perez.

However, women between the ages of 28-45, who are in their child-bearing years have favored a male ObGyn. Studies, from the American Journal of Medicine found that on average, they spend more time with patients, and were more likely to make sure they understand what patients are saying through paraphrasing. “Having built a successful practice, on the merits of being a compassionate and a skilled physician, and not simply by being a male provider, I dedicate time with each patient.”  Says Dr. Guillermo Lievano. “Whether male or female, let’s share in great communication with our patients and create a personalized experience that meets all their needs.”– Explains Dr. Lievano. This shows that there are several benefits to choosing a male and female gynecologist. There is definitely more than one way to look for an ObGyn depending on what you need. It’s important to be honest with yourself in what you expect of your doctor and what you are comfortable with, so that you can find a good match.

Actually, Dr. Ileana Perez, MD has joined Guillermo Lievano, DO in working together to create a comfortable and inviting practice for all at “Elite Obstetrics and Gynecology of Miami” for all those who are looking for compassionate and individualized care. In April of 2014, the partnership of Dr. Perez and Dr. Lievano began in Miami Beach. Together they bring more then 30 years of combined experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Elite ObGyn commits to providing their patients with leading-edge, innovative techniques, high-risk pregnancy services and personalized medical care. They are also very proud to have privileges at Baptist Hospital.

“At ELITE Obstetrics and Gynecology of Miami,we strive to provide our patients with the best possible options in order to help women build a strong and healthy family, one patient at a time. “- Stated Dr. Guillermo Lievano as Dr. Ileana Perez agreed.
