    A PASTOR FALLS?

I read in disbelief. A phenomenal Pastor fell. Did he fall? Is that accurate? The dictionary defines the word “fall” as a move downward; always from a higher to a lower level. It is rapid and without control. Accidental. No he didn’t fall. Falls happen rapidly. Without control. Accidentally. He sinned. Sin is a choice. Sin always starts with compromise. Compromise is the start of a slow downward spiral. Any one of us could be him or his precious wife. It doesn’t happen overnight. It happens in baby steps backwards. One little compromise. We must learn to obey in the little things. We have a responsibility. Each one us. The church as a whole, and me individually. Let us acknowledge our part. And make corrections. We are so far from God’s standard of holiness. The church should be a refuge from the world. Instead it has become polluted. In the world, everywhere we look is something sexy. Innocence is being stolen. The world has crept into the church. Slowly but surely. Satan is laughing. God is crying. We have a Dad looking down from heaven with a broken heart. It’s time to make a change. Church should be a refuge from this. Where do we start? Change should always start with me. The Bible exhorts women to dress modestly. Why? There are young men who are struggling to keep their eyes pure. They earnestly desire to please the Lord. I don’t want to stumble my brother. Jesus spoke severe words for this: Luke 17:2 It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble. Little eyes of innocent girls are looking to us. They want to know what is appropriate. In times past, the more insecure I was, the more immodest I dressed. My outward actions were just a reflection of the insecurities hiding in my heart. I craved attention. But, not from the right Man. Over time I learned that I need the Lord’s eyes of approval only. My value is found in my relationship with Jesus. Not how many men I can get a glance from. God called us to be holy. He didn’t call us to be sexy. Being sexy has no place in the church. Be sexy at home. Do I want to look good? Of course, I’m a woman. It’s a fine line. But I do believe there is a line. That line has been lowered. And lowered. And lowered. And lowered some more. God’s standard is timeless. It is high. He always calls us to go higher. And higher. And higher. And higher still. We each have a choice. Be a part of the problem. Be a part of the solution. When I choose what to wear I ask myself: Will this please God?  Let’s not see how close to the world we can dress. The world says lower. Jesus always says higher. We have a responsibility. The hour of temptation is upon the church. Let’s use this as our hour of influence. Make a difference. Come out and be separate. Take the lead. Be the change this country so desperately needs. Philippians 2:15…become blameless…children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world…
