My mom is not my biological parent, but she is as much my mom as anyone's is. Never diagnosed with any type of medical condition that should have prevented her from having her own biological children, she and my father mysteriously were never able to conceive. At the age of 32, they took me home from the hospital. They, as well as I, believe that I was always meant to be their child. I've even been told throughout my life, often by people who have no clue that I'm adopted, how much I look like her. We just believe that this is part of our miracle. Growing up, I cannot remember a time when I didn't know that I was adopted. Through that, I have learned that family is not defined by blood. Family are the ones who love you unconditionally. Family are the ones who support you when you need it, but who let you find yourself and believe in you when no one else may. As the years go by, I am more convinced that she was always meant to be my mom. I couldn't imagine a better one. I would like to wish a Happy Mother's Day to her and all the "other mothers" of the world! #othermothers
