Internet Helps Get The Message of Help and Inspiration Out Globally
It was 9:00 on a Monday night and the phone rang. Caller ID said it was Dr. Michael Tomlison.
I hadn't sleep much the night before from working late so I did not answer it.
He hung and called right back.
That meant it must be an emergency so I answered the phone and Doc was so excited!
He apologized for calling so late and proceeded to tell me that he had just finished up with a patient who had flown from Madrid Spain to Kansas City.
She flew all this way just to see him because of a video interview I had done with him and had posted on the internet.
His words will forever ring in my ears, "Wes, thank you so very much. Now I truly believe I really can help people on a global basis and this last patient has proven it to me."
She was the third patient that had traveled across the big pond to see him as a result of the video interview we had made discussing variations of what a person could do for pain relief depending on their condition and symptoms.
Then not long ago I received an email from Bronwyn White in Australia. The kind of email that gave me goose bumps.
She was thanking me for inspiring her.I didn't realize I had.
She expressed that she felt as if the weight of the world had been lifted off her shoulders. She is a stay at home mom with three kids under five.
Only a week before, she did not know what she was going to do, or how she was going to do it. All the bills were looming and the stress she felt from worrying how to feed her three children and pay the house payment was agonizing...
It turns out she heard a podcast I had recorded in January. It was now mid-February, Wednesday night at 2 am.
She couldn’t sleep from stress. She said my words kept running through her mind "action trumps knowledge, just take action" so she got up, took action by outlining her activities for later that day.
Long story short she made a presentation to a business group and landed a major contract.
It finally dawned on me that the internet is a very powerful tool and it can be used to help people in ways you may have never imagined.
I didn't see this coming.
I was doing what I enjoy doing. Playing with video and helping to get good, relevant information out to the masses from people that want to share their message of help.
If I may present a suggestion, I'd like to suggest that if you have the opportunity to interview your Doctor, a local business person, the teacher at school and/or anyone that truly helps others, help them express their voice globally by getting their message of help and inspiration recorded and posting it to the internet for them.
You never know who else you may be helping by helping them.
