New Kia Sedona to be revealed on Monday

An all-new Sedona minivan will be shown at the New York Auto Show next week by Kia, and will appear in late 2014 as a 2015 model. Kia confirmed this morning that the new van will be making an appearance, and gave some details on what to expect in the new people mover.

Underneath, a new chassis underpins the new minivan which Kia is calling a “midsize multi-purpose vehicle.” A 3.3 liter direct injected V6 will be the sole powertrain option. The Sedona will have Kia’s UVO infotainment system with a new eServices feature, which should be similar to other info services from companies such as Toyota or Chrysler to help find restaurants, gas stations, etc.

Sales for the current Sedona have been much higher than in the past, despite the model having a one year hiatus from Kia dealer lots. Current sales for 2014 are over 1,500 units, still much less than the top selling vans in segment like the Honda Odyssey and Dodge Grand Caravan.

Kia hopes that their new entry will help them gain more market share in the slowly declining minivan market. The car will be completely unveiled Monday morning on the ABC morning show “Live with Kelly and Michael.” For deals on the current Kia Sedona in the Hyannis area, check out http://www.kiaofcapecod.com/sedona/hyannis.
