“Christian Surge” From the East to the West

“Surge” is a word that denotes a sudden powerful forward or upward movement, especially by a crowd or by a natural force such as the waves, tide or electricity. It is a “cause and effect” phenomenon, the final outcome of which could either be negative or positive, constructive or destructive.

Typhoon surge for instance is caused by the “wrath of nature” the usual effects of which are extreme damages to lives and properties just like what happened in November 2013 when typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) wrecked havoc in Eastern Visayas, Philippines wherein close to 7,000 people perished while houses and infrastructures were mostly leveled to the ground. Consequently, the tragic event immediately triggered a “surge” of humanitarian relief operations from different countries in a concerted effort to alleviate the sufferings of those who survived. However, the massive “surge” of relief operations apparently were not able to fully satisfy the needs of the victims, hence, the so-called “people surge” eventually emerged crying for help.

Indeed, the “surge” phenomenon could come in many forms be it natural or man-made but for Christians who belong to the Members Church of God International (MCGI), the most awesome and glorious “surge” happened recently (from April 5 to 7, 2014) in a WESTERN country of Brazil in South America. It was actually a very significant religious event prompted by the surge of Christian spirit in every believer’s heart that yearns to venerate God with joyful THANKSGIVINGS for His immeasurable LOVE and unspeakable BLESSINGS. Neither the measures of distances nor the cultural/racial barriers between and among true Christians from different countries could hamper the fulfillment of what was prophesized as follows:

Malachi 1:11- For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.

Jeremiah 30: 19-2- 19..and out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.20 Their children also shall be as aforetime, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all that oppress them. 21 And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the LORD. 22 And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

Zechariah 8:7- Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the West Country.

What had transpired as the “surge” of International Thanksgiving to God (ITG) by the MCGI depicted an awesome picture of the unfolding fulfillment of the above mentioned prophecies. The “surge” of that multinational thanksgiving may not be so sudden. It was caused by the relentless trumpeting of the biblical TRUTH for the past 50 years by the messenger of God in the person of Bro. Eli Soriano, the Presiding Minister of the MCGI ably aided by his Vice Presiding Minister Bro. Daniel Razon and the MCGI workers. http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1120526

The recent euphoric religious event, the very first ever ITG to be hosted by a country from the WEST incidentally jibed with the April 7 culmination of Bro. Eli’s 50th year of service to God and to humanity, the trumpeting of TRUTH that had emanated from the EAST country (Philippines) and had since powerfully moved forward to the WEST (South, North and Latin American countries).

In a figurative sense, the sound of Bro. Eli’s trumpet has brought about the growing numbers of worldwide adherents. In the real sense, with God’s help, Bro. Eli's preaching has caused the realization of this continuing Christian “surge” from the EAST to the WEST as he has with him, God’s righteousness and His promise of salvation. Thanks be to God for having Bro. Eli in our midst!
