    The Whoville Unhoused

For the last several months, Eugene , Or has had a substantial amount of homeless people who have gathered on a city owned lot. This is the 11th whoville site they have set up. The overall concept behind the gathering of the whovilleians is a basc safe place to sleep. The people I this unit consisted of a retired teacher whom received frostbit feet this winter. A pregnant unhoused female whom felt safe here to get the help she needed. Various people with mental instability, various several addictions, and those who are trying to do better. These sights were created to give that basic first step in the life they seek. A safe place to sleep. Over the last several months, the Eugene city council has been threating to kick hem out with hesitation. My ten year old son, a cancer patient, and other community leaders and organizations have been working with city council to come up with a solution to the issue. Eugene has allowed sites to be set up and operated by volunteers an organizations of the community. They also stated that they would give the whoville site until the 15th of this month. On april 1st we awoke thinking we where going to prepare ourselves for another Saturday for my son to go bring a hot meal to them and check up on them as many others do too. but instead we seen this. pictures to follow. The city hired over 60 workers including the police force with cops on top of buildings and such. We thought we had until the 15th. The stuff these people have built, warming tent, kitchen, and as you see in the pictures a good safe structure for people to get sleep. I hope you find this intriguing on how our government is reacting to the threat of the homeless surviving. but this is just my sons side of the story. Like I said if a ten year old cancer patient can walk into and sit for hours with the people of whoville, why cant our city government or other entities? My son stood up in front of city council in early January and exclaimed that what was going on was wrong. My son also attempted a 75 mile walk to our city capitol to show them what whoville is doing is working even though its baby steps. Like I said to our awaking on the 1st of April, the people of whoville where ousted with there belongings they could not carry being thrown away. food was brought in to give them a hot meal before they were dispersed to the streets. the officials on site denied our community leaders and others trying to help, access to help them. the only people allowed in was the people the officials wanted in or hired. My son has been facing the fear of what our future is foreholding on todays youth. thank you for your time.
