Comics Generation: Design Saves Taiwan
"The pen is mightier than the sword.", a generation of young Taiwanese citizens proved this by their comic paintings.
During the protest action of Taiwan legislature occupation, the "Country Concerned Club", a group of young designers gathered to make an 'unusual translation'. By comics, they spread spirits and ideas from protesters to overall citizens, and translate complex pact articles and controversies into simple pictures.
These comics made a success of giving rise to an unity of young generation, and also explained untold stories from the Service Trade Pact between Taiwan and China.
From their works, citizens in Taiwan realized why these protesters fight against Taiwan government. By their comics, youngster knows what's difference between civic and government's version of the 'Cross Strait Pact Supervisory Law'.
In the latest work (http://i.imgur.com/bi5sCIR.jpg), they used Shepherd dog and Spitz dog to symbolize the two versions of supervisory law recently will be discussed in the next week. In civic version, there are more room for citizens and congress to participate. On the contrary, government plays a dictator role in government's version.
In addition, this team made another success recently on VDemocracy, so called a funding platform. Their painting works proposal was funded over 55 thousands of TWD for the past 5 days. (http://www.vdemocracy.tw/project/2839)
VDemocracy is originated from FlyingV, also a famous local funding website in Taiwan. However, FlyingV was prohibited from funding service by Taiwan government since protesters were successfully funded.
Inspired from the famous funding platform, Kickstarter, this kind of funding agencies make an interface between funders and founders all over the world.
