The Fabric of Our Lives
My parents protested the war (even though dad served), boycotted lettuce and grapes (they supported Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers), and walked the picket lines (Dad worked for the LA Times and walked the picket line with the striking workers at the Herald Examiner). They were pro-union, believed in the little guy and struggled financially, but they always made sure we looked nice for that special occasion. Those were the days that shaped who I am today and will forever be etched in my memory. Thank you Mom for filling our lives with those treasures.
