    Palm weavers

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     MarloCueto photographed vendors weaving palm leaves together outside of a Catholic Church in Paranaque City, Philippines, on April 12 for Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday is observed by Christians and marks the entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. 'Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, a week of Jesus' passion, death and will culminate on Easter Sunday, Jesus' resurrection. It is a time for Filipino Catholics and to the whole Catholic community worldwide to reflect,' he said.

Filipino vendors weave palm leaves outside the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help also known as Redemptorist Church in Baclaran Paranaque. Palm Sunday is celebrated by Catholics worldwide in commemoration of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, a week before His resurrection on Easter Sunday. In the Philippines it is celebrated by re-enacting Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem where the priest blesses the ornately palm branches of Filipino Catholics before the start of the Holy Mass.
