    DC Cherry Blossoms

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     "We set our alarms for 5 a.m. the next morning and got ourselves up with the thought that this would be a once in a lifetime experience" Sabita said. She and her sister were excited to hear that the cherry blossoms in Washington, D.C., had finally reached their peak bloom, and they couldn't think of a better way of seeing them than at sunrise.

"We were not the only ones to think so," she said. "There were many people already at the Tidal Basin who had staked out their spots and set up their tripods."

Sabita says that the morning was absolutely silent despite the people who gathered to watch the sun rise over the blooms. "It was very uplifting to see that so many other people had such reverence for nature and for the breathtaking spectacle around us," she said. "Witnessing the sunrise over the water with the blossoms put us in a peaceful and happy mood for the entire day."
    - Verybecoming, CNN iReport producer

The Cherry Blossoms bloomed late last week. My sister and I headed to the Tidal Basin before dawn on Friday 11 April for a sunrise with the blossoms. It was unbelievably beautiful, and a dream for this amateur photographer.
