Belt Buckles Made Famous In Movies And TV Shows

A belt, though a very simple and small item, is considered by many fashion authorities as a mark of one’s style sense. It can enhance, complete, highlight or even ruin one’s look. And it is indeed an important accessory, even for ordinary people, that is worn almost every day when they go to work, to school or simply when they are just hanging out. Anybody can go from rugged to casual to formal with just the addition or removal of the belt on an outfit or attire.

As such, if regular, ordinary people know the importance of having and wearing a belt, costume designers definitely know its significance and value as well. There are so many belts made popular in films. Costume designers only not focus on designing or creating the belts but they also pay attention to the belt buckles. Below are some of the belt buckles made popular and even classic by some movies and TV shows watched and beloved by millions of people and film aficionados:

The Red River D buckle. John Wayne can be credited for making this particular buckle famous. But there are other belt buckles that John Wayne made popular in his other Western movies. However, this screen legend wore the Red River D buckle in a total of nine Western flicks. In the film Red River, Wayne played rancher Tom Dunson and the cattle brand for his ranch is a D with two wavy lines symbolizing the river banks.

Peace symbol buckle. In the film Dirty Harry, Scorpio, played by Andrew Robinson, made this buckle design quite popular, though he was the main antagonist in the movie. According to the director, Don Siegel, the peace symbol buckle serves as a reminder that no matter how vicious a person can be, that person will remain blind to what he truly is.

J.R. belt buckle. In the classic television drama Dallas, J.R. Ewing, played by the late Larry Hagman, is a conniving and ruthless wealthy business and oilman. And he proudly displays his wealth and fortune by wearing a ruby-adorned silver and gold belt buckle.

Batman’s belt buckle. Whether you’re a fan of the comic books, live action series on TV, the cartoon TV series or those blockbuster movies, you can definitely not ignore Batman’s buckle and his utility belt itself. And whatever age you are, whether you’re still a kid, teen-ager or adult who is a big Batman fan, you will certainly want his belt and buckle for your memorabilia collection.
