    Monumental Red Moon

13 April 2014  - I went down to shoot pictures of the sunrise at the Tidal Basin and the Cherry Blossoms but decided to shoot some photos of the Capitol first. I noticed the moon behind me was red but shrouded by low hanging clouds and difficult to see clearly so I ignored it for the most part. As I was wrapping up the shoot, I turned around to see the moon had descended behind and to the left of the Washington Monument but was very red by then. I unpacked my camera and threw it on a tripod as quickly as I could and managed to pull off just two shots before it disappeared completely into the horizon. - Scott Fracasso
