Midwest Thunderstorms Followed by Fantasyland Snowfall

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     When mediaman was a child, his father used to say, “We can have snow up until Easter.” Well, that notion came true Monday as 2 inches of snow fell a day after severe thunderstorms in Chaseburg, Wisconsin. “I don't recall us having so strong of thunderstorms followed by the graceful morning snow the following morning. It was like we were in two different worlds or locales,” he said.

Wide shifts in weather patterns appear to be continuing throughout the United States. These weather changes seem to be occurring with more frequency. On April 13th, the Midwest was hit with severe thunderstorms throughout Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The thunderstorms were accompanied with heavy rain, high winds, and hail. Early the next morning, nearly 2 inches of fresh snow blanketed western Wisconsin. The snow created a winter fantasyland throughout the region, just days before Easter. These images were taken in the bluffs and valleys of Chaseburg, Wisconsin.
