Should you be Using Pinterest to Market your Product or Website?
The answer to that is, yes,
Pinterest will help bring traffic to your website and attention to your products. Pinterest is a visually based network with over 70 million users worldwide. What started out as individuals passing around cool pictures, is now used as a free, easy way to market your product and spread information.
Once signed up for Pinterest, the first thing you need to do is create boards and pins. A pin is a visual bookmark; a board is a collection of these bookmarks. Each pin is a reflection of your company or product, so make sure to use the full spectrum of thinking 'outside the box'.
For instance, if your company sells drills, you can set up and dedicate different boards for how your drill is helpful, like: 'Kitchen Remodels', 'Hanging Wall Pictures', 'Crafty Customers'. Based off the 'Kitchen Remodel' board, you can start a new board with recipes to use inside that new kitchen or for
'Crafty Customers', you can use the board to invite followers to share a personal picture story of how your drill helped them to complete a project. This allows your fan base to be more involved and with a referral based social media like Pinterest, you want your customers to be involved, share your pins and help market your product.
When first starting on Pinterest, you want to create at least 3-5 boards, with at least 5-10 pins per board. Each Board is named for the bookmarks it holds inside and you want to create names that will jump out. Instead of naming a board, 'Breakfast Ideas', try, 'Breakfast is for Anytime' using eye-grabbing photos that visually stimulate, instilling ideas of how your product can be useful.
It is very important to keep your page as current as possible, daily pinning is advised. Keep your page fresh by updating with new photos, switching cover pictures, and starting new boards. Don't try to be something that you are not, stay true to who you are. You can also connect your twitter account with Pinterest, enabling you to share messages quickly between two social networks, killing two birds with one stone.
Make sure that your profile is completely updated with all your information including website and phone number if applicable, making it easier to reach you if necessary.
Another great tip is to add share buttons to your website and pages, making it more accessible for customers to Pin, Tweet, or Facebook the link they are looking at. Using share buttons are an effective, inexpensive way to pass product information through the maze of social media.
Pinterest is a remarkable tool that allows you to reach people and market through pictures, giving new meaning to, "a picture is worth a thousand words". The more interesting your picture is, the more likely people will notice it and re-pin to their board, effectively starting the domino effect of marketing. Jump on Pinterest and start getting pinning today.
