    Gas Mania!

Plymouth, Indiana is the battleground for war.

    A gas war.

It all started a few days ago.  On Monday, gas was $3.33 here in Plymouth while it remained at $3.56 in South Bend.  By Tuesday, the Speedway on North Michigan Street by Rt. 30 had gas at $2.99.  So, the Wal*Mart on Rt. 30 and Oak decided to drop theirs.  Following suit was the BP station on Michigan and Jefferson.  Day by day, every few hours, the prices dropped.  $2.99, 2.90, 2.85, and so on.

Last night, gas was $2.70 at Speedway.  Driving by, people were backed up onto Michigan Street, clammoring for the cheap gas.  Going to work this morning (at 9am), gas was $2.69.  Astounding!

This evening, I figured I would fill up, even though I figured the price of gas would have gone up again.  I was wrong.  Gas is at $2.65 here in Plymouth and people are losing their minds.  I did a quick pass at all the major stations- there are lines out into the street for most of them.  I decided to get my gas at the BP station about 2 blocks from my apartment here on Michigan Street.  Oddly enough, there was no line.  As you can see, I paid $2.65, got 8.52 gallons of gas for a record.... $22.69!  I had a little less than half a tank left in my little 2000 Chevy Cavalier.  Usually it takes me $30 or even $40.

We easily have the lowest gas in the state!  I don't know how long this will last, but it's a welcome sight here in the midwest!
