    In Memoriam

Gabo saved me and he will never know it.

It was a freezing night near to La Guardia Airport, there at New York, just arrived from Bogotá via Fort Lauderdale, My credit card declined at my hotel reservation, so I had to get a room by my own, I picked a bus, and a little scared, a little lost, I didn´t see anybody who could help me to pick the subway to my new destination, but "magically" I saw somebody reading 100 years of solitude in spanish version, so I asked to that guy, a dominican near t 60, he asked where I was from, "Colombia" I said. He was so excited because I was from the same land where Gabo as he was known, created all his magic realism, and he told me, in his own words "I will help you, only because you are from the same country as Gabo, does not matter if its freezing at 2: 00 a.m, but just tell me what do you think about Gabo" He helped me and gave the indications to get my hotel, whlie we talked about Gabo.
I wasn´t saved by the bell, I was saved by García Marquez.
    Thank you so much Gabo.
