This iReport is part of an assignment:
Salute to troops
She became my wife!!!
I met my wife 24 years ago while both of us were on active duty with the U.S. Navy in Virginia. I only had the chance to see her for a few days before I went out to sea for about 30 days. I always volunteered to take ships duty the first day back so the married guys could go see their families and wives. I had been in the Navy for about 5 years at that time and I was working in the engine room when an announcement came over the PA system ordering me to the Quarter Deck. As a Machinist Mate I never went to the Quarter Deck. I went up as ordered and there she stood in her little white sailor outfit and for the very first time I knew why the married guys would make crazy deals to get out of duty that first day back in port. I also knew I was going to marry her and I did. My wife served 9 years in the Navy as a Cryptologic Technician CT2 Susan Hopkins and I am very proud of her and I would mary her all over again. I love you Susan. Todd
