April 20 marks the four-year anniversary of the BP Oil Disaster in the Gulf of Mexico which claimed the lives of eleven men. Following the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon, oil gushed from the floor of the Gulf for 87 days releasing an estimated 4.9 million barrels of crude oil. The extent of the damage and the long-term effects from the spill remain impossible to determine.
These images were all taken in 2010. I am posting them as a simple reminder to us all to continue to curb our dependence on oil. Lest we forget...
