    Locate Pinger

General aviation aircraft are often equipped with an "Automatic Direction Finder" (ADF). This device points a needle at a station broadcasting a signal (even a radio station if you dial it in). When you fly towards a station, the ADF needle points toward the station; if you turn right, the ADF needle points to the left. Why can't this simple technology be adapted for locating an ELT or pinger?
