    Astrophotography from my backyard

I started astrophotography in 2010 when I bought my first telescope and attached a Nikon camera to it. I spent many nights using a remote controller to open the shutter and to hold it open long enough to collect enough light. This ancient light I collected were photons that had left galaxies before man walked the earth. I soon upgraded my equipment as I learned more about processing and I found demands with my equipment were not meeting the task. The telescope and mount must be able to “follow” the distant target as the earth rotates through the night. I also found that I needed a camera with greater sensitivity as many of these deep sky targets are so dim that the human eye has a difficult time registering it.
I’d like to share images I have taken over the past year using equipment that cost as much as one would spend on an ATV or fishing boat. I hope you all enjoy.
