Entrepreneur and Pro Video Producer Parchelle Hotten Reveals Secret to Success in Sports and Business
“People with mentors, role models, and coaches are accountable to other people,” she says. “That accountability and teamwork make you work harder to accomplish your goals.” Parchelle’s clients love that she wears both hats as a team player and a coach. Not only is she a coach herself, but she also has a coach she trusts and learns from to reach her business goals.
“Everyone, in every industry, can benefit from a coach,” says Parchelle. President Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods are all successful people who have coaches in the form of a life coach, political consultant, advisor etc.
“Understanding the value of a coach, on and off the court, is what separates the star players from the wannabes,” she says. Parchelle has been watching the NBA playoffs this week and says that other business owners should be watching too! Pointing to the example of her favorite team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Parchelle says it’s with leadership like Coach Scott Brooks that the Thunder have positioned themselves to be a premiere team in the NBA.
“Coaches instill the value of teamwork and the point that you can’t do it all on your own. That’s important in the success of sports and business,” she says. To her point, Coach Brooks has led the Thunder to the playoffs in all four of his full seasons with the team and was named the Western Conference All-Star Coach for the 2014 NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans, LA.
“The learning curve with a coach is shortened because you’re building from their mistakes.” Parchelle says it was her coach, Aaron Thomas of Your World Productions, whose help has given her company the much needed boost that skyrocketed her video production business. “There was an occasion when I shared a business proposal with my coach, Aaron. His advice helped me to get my company’s biggest job to date.”
When she started her company in 2011, she just wanted to help churches and community organizations. Today, Parchelle’s company, Fresh Level Productions, helps business owners to sell more of their products and services using the media of video. Her company handles everything from start to finish, including scriptwriting, pre-production, production, editing, digital delivery, and online/TV campaigns depending on the clients’ goals and what they want to achieve.
