Is County Government Above the Law?

Union County Commissioners to evict Shelter From the Storm, the county's only domestic violence organization, so that funds from the Oregon Judicial Department can be used to construct a new courthouse where the Shelter From the Storm building currently stands. The building is only 16 years old and was constructed specifically for Shelter From the Storm with funds from a Community Development Block grant. Shelter From the Storm served Union County officials with notice of intent to file a lawsuit against the county, claiming damages in excess of 1.2 million dollars, for violations of the Uniform Relocation Act of 1970.
