The NGO located at 162A/34 Lake Gardens started in 1990, is doing a wonderful job by building life and career of children who has nobody of their own. It now has 24 girls and 50 boys. It provides shelter to neglected, street children and children from economically deprived and broken families. The NGO believe all children deserve to get love, care, good health, nourishment, quality education and become a valued member of our society. ACTT aims to bring a change in their children by giving them a self sufficient and dignified life in the society. Mr. Chandan Das, the man behind ACTT is serving humanity for the past 14 years, says that “Children here can’t be adopted, but an individual can give sponsorship to help them to grow in life and society”. Child sponsorship enables one to one relationship between sponsors and the child. When the person becomes child sponsor he/she will receive the details of the child along with child‘s background and the present day performance of the child through letters. Further Mr. Chandan Das says “the maximum age limit of keeping a child in this NGO is till their graduation.” All the children here have their medical insurance and get medical checkups by a child specialist at regular intervals. All children are from West Bengal and nearby areas. ACTT expansion programmes include:
• Vocational Training Unit
• Set-up Hall For Recreation Activities
• Toll Free Child Health Line Projects
• Computer Literacy Programme In Rural Bengal
ACTT gives importance to extracurricular activities in every child’s life. It includes dance training, drawing classes, football coaching, spoken English classes and the like. These children also celebrate different events like New Year party, Saraswati Puja, Basanta Utsab, Rabindranath Tagore’s Birthday, Independence Day, Annual Sports day and many more. Children’s are also taken to picnics and excursions during holidays. After talking to these children one can find out how determined and dedicated they are for their future.
