Building a boat from a chimney

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     bobpipedream told me, 'I was 20, did not have much money and had just returned from crossing the USA in 1963 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. I wanted adventure, but could not afford to go the normal route. In hindsight of course, I should have just saved money as it would have been easier! The design was just a function of the tube and its compromises, welding was relatively easy as I used MIG. Of course I made loads of mistakes and last year, I fixed most of those! The whole build has been a journey through adversity and life! But I struggle on and there have been some really lovely moments.'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

I built a boat from a chimney (industrial cooling tower). Pipedream is a 40 foot steel sailing trimaran with twin engines and a mast that seemed to be a good idea (it works too).
    She weighs 9 tons.
At the moment I am refitting the boat as I have been away working. When completed (just the paint needed now) I hope to cross the atlantic and maybe continue on around the world. But as the French say: it is controlled by the eternal war between time and money!
