Does Retailer Forever 21 Stand With Donald Sterling?

It appears the women's retail clothing chain Forever 21 has decided to support LA Clippers owner Donald's Sterling and abandon their African American customer base. In the Montgomery Mall store which is located in the predominantly white and wealthy area of Montgomery County, Maryland customers who enter through the busy parking lot entrance of the store are greeted with a prominently placed wall display of LA Clipper longs sleeve sweatshirt among the summer short sleeve tee shirts. As an African American I find this enormously offensive. The fact that this is being displayed on a wall as a focal point shows deliberate insensitivity and what can reasonably be interpreted as an intentional show of support for Donald Sterling. Certainly Forever 21 knows that as the current owner of the LA Clippers, it is Donald Sterling who currently stands to share in the profit of the sale of these shirts as he will receive a merchandise royalty. One has to wonder why any retailer would not wait until his exit to put sales support behind this brand. My complaint via e-mail and phone to the corporate headquarters has been unanswered.

    Update 4/29 9:39 pm

I have yet to receive a call despite the promise of one within 24 hours of my complaint. However I received the following e-mail reply. Meanwhile there has been no change in the store display. As a multi million dollar corporation with economies of scale ability, it is unfortunate that the company did not elect to produce a shirt using Clippers colors with a message "We stand for the team and not for racism". This would have allowed fans a way to support the team without offending an entire race by lining the pockets of Donald Sterling.
