This iReport is part of an assignment:
My rare condition is called Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. I've been under this diagnosis for the past seven years. This condition is a multisystemic condition that not only affects the muscles, but also the heart, eyes, and causes cognitive defects as well. Living day to day with this condition is painful. Between the spasms and general muscle pain, I am sore all the time. As of yet, there is no cure for this disease. Only maintenance of the symptoms.
To make sure that I don't slip into depression, which is common with this condition, I've dedicated myself to advocacy for those with disabilities and awareness for their conditions. I am taking life one step at a time and praying that a cure will be found in my lifetime. If not, I will leave a legacy of hope and evidence of fighting for my cure.
