    Lynchburg VA Train Fire

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Drisja01 says the train derailed right below his office window in downtown Lynchburg, Virginia. "After the wreck when the flames were twice as tall as our 6-story office building, we sounded the evacuation alarm for the building and everyone ran to get away from the thick black smoke. No one knew what was in the cars or if it was a toxic chemical so everyone was very frightened. Outside the building some people were panicking trying to get out of downtown."
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

At 1:50PM we heard a load bang outside of our office window. A train carrying what we later found out to be carrying crude oil derailed right in front of our office. I took this picture and short video before running for the exit. There was an explosion and large fire. Lucky for us the exploding tanks actually fell into the river. If they had turn over the other way they would have spilled crude oil out into the parking lot of a very busy riverfront restaurant. We didn't know what was in the tankers and was very afraid of additional explosions or toxic fumes. People were running for their cars and trying frantically to get out of downtown. We were very fortunate not to have any deaths or injuries. It was a very scary situation.
