FEAR: Why you'll never escape it and what to do instead
Here’s what I know of fear: you can never hope to escape it. But what we can do is to choose how we’ll live our life in the face of it.
The reason why we can’t escape fear is that fear is truly just "an idea”, and ideas are a product of the creative mind. As long as my mind can conceive, then fear will always be a part of the landscape. And It’s just an idea and nothing more until we say so. And there is the real culprit: it’s our reaction to fear that can slowly or quickly suffocate our actions and spirit.
"Men go to far greater lengths to avoid what they fear than to obtain what they desire” - Dan Brown
Most people spend a harmful portion of their life trying to avoid the emotions that are unpleasant, because in our mind we relate to what those emotions represent as real threats. We will wait for the “right time” to start our new career (avoiding the emotion of disappointment), or we’ll avoid taking action in some other way when really we are avoiding the feelings we fear.
In truth, what we must do to achieve incredible success in life is to practice these 3 simple steps:
STEP ONE: Find your VISION
It can take a lot of courage to really imagine what we want to achieve in life. Getting past all of the “head junk” can seem impossible, but it’s not. When you can really know what goals or objectives you want to achieve, those goals and objectives that really excite you and inspire you, then hold onto that vision: write it down, detail it with images (vision board) and share that vision with people that you KNOW won’t rain on it
STEP TWO: Take ACTION
Nothing changes without action. And actions have to be forward-creating to be anything. Take an action that creates something in the near future that you have to deal with; make that sales call, go to that networking session, make that presentation, put an offer on that house, make the deposit on a vacation or educational course or self-development program, or hire a coach. And do it TODAY.
STEP THREE: REPEAT
While you CAN get results right away, usually all success in life comes from repeated actions alone. Trees don’t spawn ONE acorn — they create thousands. If you want to reap a harvest, then plant a field’s worth of crops
“ Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy” Dale Carnegie
